What Really Matters?
One of the statements that has resonated so deeply for me is that we all have been in the same storm, but not in the same boat. This pandemic has affected each one of us differently and though the storm seems to be lightening up, we have great choices to make. As we move gently and tenuously into opening the doors of our shelter in place, we are at a crossroads. For so many people around the world, the question “ What really matters?” has been at the heart of this experience. As I write this question a red dragonfly approaches and circles. She lights on the tip of a plant known as the “friendship plant”, Billbergia Nutans, or Queen’s Tears. It is called “friendship plant” because it multiplies and makes many side shoots which can then be divided and shared with friends. It is called Queen’s Tears because of the drops of nectar that "weep" from the flowers when the plant is moved or touched.
We have all been moved or touched during this time. We have shed many tears...for our losses, for the suffering of humanity, for our Mother Earth. And yet, this has been a time of friendships….. some new, some old, some unexpected. A time of opening the heart.
So back to the question, “What really matters?” What has stirred in your innermost being? Like the friendship plant, what is yours to multiply and share? Like the Queen’s Tears, what have your tears taught you about yourself and what is important to you?
Ponder these questions well, my friends, because it is up to each and every one of us to embody a personal life that is in alignment with what matters deeply to us. Step into your sovereignty as a queen or a king. Make choices in your day to day life that are reflections of the values that you cherish. It is imperative at this time that we listen deeply to the wisdom within our own being, rather than being unconsciously moved and directed by forces outside of ourselves.
